The EFPA executive Council accepted the recommendation by EFPA board of Assessment, to endorse the joint statement from the EU Health Policy Platform AI Thematic Network.
AI is highly relevant to our professional practice, particularly as the European Commission and Governments the world over are giving it a lot of attention, including tightening regulation.
Nigel Evans, Chair of EFPA Board of Assessment, commented "we are already offering leadership in this area, previously responding to EU directives on AI, and most recently Medical Devices.
Covering many areas the statement importantly flags the potential inequalities and bias within AI when 'assessing' different groups in society.
We believe we all gain in collective strength and association by endorsing the Statement."
