World Mental Health Day 2025 – Webinar on Community Psychology

On 10 October 2025, to mark World Mental Health Day, the Advocacy Team of EFPSA (European Federation of Psychology Students’ Associations), in collaboration with EFPA (European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations) and IAAP (International Association of Applied Psychology), organised a webinar on “Community Psychology: Integrating Perspectives for a Broader Vision.”

Lara Nkmis from the EFPSA Advocacy Team opened the event, introducing the foundations of Community Psychology — its definition, goals, values, and methods.

Participants engaged actively in discussions exploring:

  • How community psychology provides an innovative and expanded perspective beyond traditional individual approaches;

  • The evolution of the field over the past decade;

  • The current challenges and key strengths shaping its development.

Representing the EFPA Board of Directors, Caterina Arcidiacono highlighted EFPA’s ongoing commitment to this area. She announced that during the EFPA 2025 General Assembly in Paphos, Cyprus, EFPA members approved the inclusion of a new Field of Practice within the EuroPsy Regulations 2025, titled Community & Social Intervention — a significant step toward recognising and strengthening community-based psychological practice in Europe.
