World Mental Health Day – 10th October

Workplace mental health is one of EFPA's 7 mental health priorities.

This World Mental Health Day, we highlight the important outcomes of the H-Work project in which EFPA was a consortium partner—which has developed an online platform and policy papers aimed at promoting mental well-being in professional settings—as well as the launch of the WHO Mosaic Toolkit to End Stigma and Discrimination in Mental Health and EFPA's participation in related events.

The H-Work project was recognised by the European Commission call for Best and promising practices on mental health as a Best practice

The project designed, implemented, and validated multi-level assessment and intervention toolkits to improve mental health at work. These toolkits assess both individual and organisational outcomes and contribute to the development of innovative products and services. The goal is to create a healthier, more supportive work environment for everyone. We encourage employers, occupational health professionals, and policy makers to explore the policy recommendations and resources available through the H-Work platform

Together, we can foster a workplace culture that reduces stigma and prioritises mental health and well-being.

EFPA is also engaged in Work and Organisational psychology through our Working Group on the topic and is an official partner to the OSHA Safe and healthy work in the digital age 2023-2025 campaign. EFPA is affiliated with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Pan-European Mental Health Coalition's work package to 'Support the promotion of mental health in the workplace'

In observing World Mental Health Day WHO notes that stigma creates barriers to employment: "Stigma and discrimination often prevent people with mental health conditions from seeking help or finding and keeping jobs. Reducing workplace discrimination through awareness, training, and engagement with people living with mental health conditions creates healthier, more inclusive work environments."

As part of EFPA's collaboration with the WHO Pan-European Mental Health Coalition, on 10th October EFPA will support the launch of the WHO Mosaic Toolkit to End Stigma and Discrimination in Mental Health, with the accompanying webinar on stigma related to mental health hosted by the European Commission, WHO and Mental Health Europe.

To mark the occasion of World Mental Health Day, at 6pm on 10th October EFPA is pleased to collaborate with the European Federation of Psychology Students' Associations (EFPSA) and the American Psychological Association on a webinar on the future of therapy— those interested are welcome to attend and to share the link.

Building on related work such as the H-Work project, the webinar will consider the various applications and shifting boundaries around mental health care in various community contexts, such as the workplace, and will give special consideration to the role of digitalisation.
