EFPA strengthens its collaboration with WHO in the European Region

On 30 October 2026, during the 76th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe (RC76), the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) was announced as a Non-State Actor (NSA) in Official Relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).

This development marks an important step in EFPA’s engagement with WHO and its contribution to regional health policy. It provides a strengthened framework for sharing psychological expertise and supporting evidence-informed approaches to health promotion, disease prevention and mental health and well-being.

EFPA’s participation in RC76 also provided an opportunity to engage with WHO’s strategic priorities for the coming years, including the new roadmap on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and well-being and the roadmap on artificial intelligence (AI). EFPA contributed its expertise through written statements, highlighting the importance of psychological science and professional practice in shaping effective, people-centred health policies.

Through this engagement, EFPA will continue to advocate for the contribution of psychology to public health and to support collaboration between psychology, health systems and other sectors.
