EFPA participates in the 2026 European Psychiatric Association Congress

March 2026, Prague—The European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) participated in the 2026 European Psychiatric Association (EPA) Congress, focusing on how interprofessional collaboration can advance practice, research, and policy. A key theme throughout the congress was the need for better integration in care pathways, making it easier for those who need support to access it.

The Congress began with the EPA Forum, now in its 12th year. EFPA participated alongside representatives with lived experience, policymakers, and other professionals to collaboratively plan the next steps in European mental health policy.

This year’s thematic focus was Leaving No One Behind: Personalised and Innovative Pathways towards Mental Health. EFPA’s contribution, building on the Federation’s mental health and digitalisation policies, emphasised that while new structures to support public mental health are important, significant opportunities also exist in improving access to and integration of existing systems, including digital platforms.

Later in the Congress, a joint symposium between associations focused on Mental Health in Europe: Multiple Perspectives, Challenges and Solutions. Representatives from EPA, EUFAMI, GAMIAN, HORATIO, UEMS, and EFPA shared diverse perspectives, highlighting the need for co-creation—not only between those with lived experience and healthcare professionals, but also with policymakers, technologists, and broader society.

Following the Congress, EPA and EFPA leadership will continue to explore ways to further develop the insights generated through these discussions.
