Brussels, 5th May 2026—The European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations AISBL (EFPA) participated in the European Parliament Intergroup on Mental Health event “Stronger Together for Mental Health: The EU’s Next Steps”, held at the European Parliament.
Organised during European Mental Health Week by Mental Health Europe and the European Parliament Intergroup on Mental Health, the event brought together Members of the European Parliament, representatives of EU institutions, civil society organisations and mental health stakeholders to discuss the future of a comprehensive European approach to mental health.
The programme focused on assessing the impact of the EU Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health and exploring next steps towards a stronger and more coordinated European Mental Health Strategy. EFPA was actively involved in the process that led to the development of the Comprehensive Approach, and has worked closely with its Full and Association members on implementation. Discussions addressed the need for sustained political commitment, cross sector collaboration and accessible mental health support for all citizens.
EFPA’s participation reflects its continued commitment to promoting psychological expertise and evidence based mental health policies, and focus on the digital determinants of mental health, at the European level. The Federation supports the development of a comprehensive European Mental Health Strategy that recognises the essential role of psychologists in prevention, intervention and the promotion of wellbeing across society.
The event concluded with a call to action for a European Mental Health Strategy for All, highlighting the importance of coordinated action and sustained investment in mental health across Europe.
EFPA will participate in a number of events to mark European Mental Health Week and will host a webinar, Stronger Together in a Digital Age: Collective Action for Youth Mental Health in a Changing Digital Europe, on Friday 8th May 2026.
