Project 6 - Sport: Promoting Growth in the Field of Practice across Europe
Intended Goal
To create a multi-component action plan for promoting the development of Sport in the field of practice across European countries represented by Full Members and growing of this field of practice as represented by practitioners applying for the EuroPsy Certificate.
EFPA Purpose contribution: Develop psychology: i. Develop psychology education, science, and professional practice
Specific Objectives
- Conduct overview of EFPA website and National EuroPsy websites content: revise the national website content document to include Sport Psychology.
- Update the Annual Report Form template with questions relevant to Sport Psychology as a field of practice. (This this can be done separately for the Specialist Standard and Certificate once that is developed and published in Project 9).
- Provide FEPSAC – European Federation of Sport Psychology ready text explaining EuroPsy Regulations to be placed on their website.
- Create a collective mind map of the various means, methods, challenges and facilitators towards enabling the growth of sport psychology across Europe in order to inform the processes of the project and how the steps in this fiche will be done. Any additional ideas emerging beyond the scope of this project as defined in this fiche will be listed as part of the longer term plan referred to below.
- Create a template for NECs to create and maintain at country level a knowledge bank of typical field-specific academic content incorporated into MSc degrees in sport psychology or as part of EuroPsy Phase 2 sport psychology-specific content in MSc psychology programmes. This is to help with preparing young practitioners towards readiness for supervised practice. These can be shared across NECs by means of links in SharePoint.
- Create a template for NECs to create and maintain at country level a knowledge bank of example EuroPsy Phase 3 programmes of supervised practice in sport psychology as illustrative of the process of training towards independent practice. These can be shared across NECs by means of links in SharePoint.
- Prepare an online live/recorded webinar in cooperation with FMs that have the field of practice well established to help all NECs and FMs understand the value of developing and promoting pathways to attaining EuroPsy certificate in the field of practice of Sport.
- Prepare the outline content (not the webinar itself) for an online live/recorded webinar that FMs can then create and use to encourage practitioners who meet the criteria for the EuroPsy certificate transitional route in the field of practice of Sport to apply for the certificate
- Encourage FMs and NECs to ensure that there is a sport psychology practitioner representing the field of practice on NEC for those who are interested in growing the field.
- Prepare brief FAQs if needed to support the webinars that illustrate the relevant criteria for transitional and regular applications for the EuroPsy certificate
- Prepare list of longer term considerations for growing and sustaining the field of practice over the next 5-10 years.

- A slide deck for a 60 minute online live/recorded webinar that FMs can use to encourage practitioners who meet the criteria for the EuroPsy certificate transitional route in sport psychology to apply for the certificate
- Increased representation of sport psychology practitioners representing the field of practice on NECs for those FMs who are interested in growing the field.
- FAQs to NECs to support practitioners making transitional and regular applications for the EuroPsy certificate
- A list of longer term considerations or project initiatives for growing and sustaining the field of practice over the next 5-10 years

* FM (or other external source(s) agreed by EFPA as appropriate) will be expected to cover any cost of travelling, accommodation and subsistence in the event of face-to-face meetings. All meetings that are held in person, however, should also be hybrid to allow attendance by project team members for whom in person attendance is not an option.
Meeting rooms, refreshments/ lunch and hybrid meeting technology are provided by EFPA Head Office for in-person meetings in Brussels. Overall costs for the face-to-face meeting are thereby reduced by using EFPA’s Head Office facility in Brussels and in the absence of good reason to the contrary this should be the preferred venue. Meeting in Brussels also facilitates project management and support by the Head Office.
