Safeguarding policy: Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults

The purpose of this policy statement is:

  • to protect children and vulnerable adults who come into contact with EFPA’s work from harm. This includes the children of adults who come into contact with our work.
  • to provide staff and volunteers, as well as children, vulnerable adults and their families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to protection from harm.

EFPA statement on psychologists practicing psychotherapy

- As approved by EFPA GA Amsterdam 2017

“Psychotherapy is the informed and intentional application of clinical methods and interpersonal stances derived from established psychological principles for the purpose of assisting people to modify their behaviors, cognitions, emotions, and/or other personal characteristics in directions that the participants deem desirable” (Norcross, 1990, p. 218-220)
