18th European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Conference
“Exploring new pathways for healing and recovery in times of global uncertainty and extreme stress”
ESTSS 2025 offers four days of keynotes, panels, networking, poster sessions and more, all on the theme: Exploring new approaches for healing and recovery in times of global uncertainty and extreme stress.
Conference co-chair Lela Tsiskarishvili, President of the Georgian Society for Psychotrauma (GSP) and Executive Director of the Georgian Centre for Psychosocial and Medical Rehabilitation of Torture Victims (GCRT) said: "As the world grapples with increased authoritarianism, conflict and animosity, our conference aims to delve into the evolving complexities of trauma response.
"ESTSS2025 will explore uncover innovative strategies and best practices for promoting healing and resilience in individuals, families, and communities.”
As well as a packed conference programme, ESTSS 2025 offers delegates the chance to explore stunning Tbilisi and sample over 1,500 years of history in one fascinating city. "Tblisi, and Georgia more widely, is no stranger to conflict and upheaval," said Prof. Jana Javakhishvili, Conference Co-Chair and Director of the Institute of Addiction Studies at Ilia State University.
"Georgia has weathered a history marked by conquests, occupations, and conflicts, including enduring two centuries of Russian and subsequent Soviet occupation. Today, Russia continues to occupy 20% of Georgian territories resulting in the internal displacement of up to 10% of the current population. Nonetheless, the spirit of the Georgian people has remained resilient, embodying qualities of creativity, perseverance, and endurance that serve as a source of inspiration to this day."
