  1. What are the requirements for entry into the EuroPsy Register?

The requirements are set out in detail in the Regulations.  In summary, psychologists must have a university education in psychology of at least 5 years and at least 1 year of supervised practice. They must also sign a statement that they will act in accordance with the ethical rules of the psychologist profession.

  1. Whom should I contact if I want to apply for EuroPsy?

National (Awarding) Committees evaluate applications and determine the outcomes of applications for EuroPsy. Psychologists that wish to apply for this certificate can contact national committees at: https://www.efpa.eu/europsy.

  1. Is EuroPsy a license to practise?

No. The license to practise can only be awarded by national governments.

  1. Is EuroPsy required by law?

No. There is as yet no requirement that psychologists must have obtained EuroPsy. But EuroPsy can facilitate the development of national laws on psychologists’ professional activities.

  1. Can EuroPsy psychologists settle and practise all around Europe?

European law allows citizens from member states to move freely and to settle and work in any other county of the EU. Practicing psychology in another European country is subject to the law of that country.

  1. Is there a fee associated with the EuroPsy application?

Any fee for applicants is determined at the national level

  1. How many types of EuroPsy Certificates are there?

There is a basic EuroPsy Certificate and there are also specialist EuroPsy Certificates, which require additional education and professional training. Specialist EuroPsy certificates exist for Psychotherapy and for Work & Organisational Psychology. Please can contact national committees for more details: link

  1. What are the requirements for a specialist EuroPsy Certificate?

The standards vary with the field of expertise, but generally speaking the certificate requires at least 400 hours of additional education and three years of additional supervised practice.

  1. How long does EuroPsy remain valid?

Seven years. Before the end of this period the psychologist has to reapply for revalidation and an extension.

  1. Is it possible for psychologists from non-EFPA Full Member countries to obtain EuroPsy?

 No this is not possible
