On September 26, 2025, the Károlyi-Csekonics Palace of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Budapest hosted the mini-conference “Old Age in New Perspective.” The event was jointly organized by the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) and the Hungarian Psychological Association, with professional coordination by Prof. Dr. Márta Fülöp, International Secretary of the Hungarian Psychological Association.

EFPA President Prof. Dr. Sofia Ramalho addressed the participants in a recorded message, highlighting the importance of collaboration in research on aging and EFPA’s continued support for its members.

The conference attracted researchers, practitioners, university students, representatives of civil society organizations, and interested senior citizens.

The programme offered an interdisciplinary overview of aging, organized into thematic blocks covering active aging, resources in old age, cognitive and identity changes, and challenges such as depression, dementia, and institutional care. Additional sessions focused on the psychological and social aspects of aging in women, as well as research on the relationship between aging, work, competition, and leisure.

The event combined well-structured presentations with opportunities for professional discussion and informal exchanges.

The conference reaffirmed that research on aging remains essential from both scientific and social perspectives, and that interest in the topic continues to grow. The commitment of the organizers and the active engagement of participants ensured a successful and valuable professional meeting.
