In memoriam Dr. Elizabeth Campbell (1954 - 2010)

6 Apr 2010

It is with great regret that we have to announce that Dr Elizabeth Campbell - former EFPA secretary general - lost her battle against cancer and passed away on Friday 2nd April 2010.

News - In memoriam Dr. Elizabeth Campbell (1954 - 2010)

It is with great sadness that the EFPA Head Office has to announce the death of Dr Elizabeth Campbell.

Liz died on Good Friday (April 2, 2010) from breast cancer. Her illness had prevented Liz from being able to take up her position as EFPA Secretary General following her election in Oslo in July 2009.

Liz was the Vice President of the British Psychological Society (BPS), having previously been its President. Liz had been a great promoter of international matters within the BPS and had been the Society's representative on the EFPA Presidents' Council for a number of years. In addition, Liz was the leader of the Psychological Assistance for Victims of Terrorism (PAVOT) EU project that demonstrated how EFPA could use European funding to further the aims of psychology in Europe. Liz also provided the EFPA Executive Council and Head Office with a great deal of good advice, particularly on moving forward EuroPsy.

All such advice was always provided in a friendly and supportive way, usually accompanied by laughter. Liz will be greatly missed.

The British Psychological Society BPS has opened an E-book of remembrance on its website (http://www.bps.org.uk/) where condolences can be offered.
